Outdoor Education

Posted by on 29/09/2015

We have been having great fun and learning lots in our Outdoor Education lessons on Thursday mornings. In the first week we looked around the school grounds and considered what we liked and how we could improve the environment. We got to work immediately on planting some flowers for the school entrance, weeding and weaving the willow dome where it had started to become loose. Things were looking better already!

Last week it was raining in the morning but that didn’t stop us! We spent the first part of the morning learning about bird’s eye (aerial) views on maps and practised taking aerial photographs with the ipads in the classroom. We looked at an aerial view of Hilltop Infants on the Internet but unfortunately when we zoomed in, Robin’s Rest was just a dark blur! So we got to work and went to Robin’s Rest to take some bird’s eye view photographs ready to create our own aerial view map back in class. We also found some minibeasts along the way who had come out for an adventure after the rain.
